Practicing Daanam (Charity), one of the four pillars of Sanatan Dharma, Surya Veer Gurukulam made a donation of $10,000 to Shri Surya Narayan Mandir on July 31st 2011. This donation was made so that the dream of building Surya Sanskriti Kendra, the first Hindu School/Cultural Center in New York City may be realized sooner rather than later. On Guru Purnima 2011 the Gurukulam also made awards in excess of $3000 to nine deserving youths so that they can pursue their studies in Sanatan Dharma and our Sanskriti.

Surya Veer Gurukulam is comprised of Guruji (Pt. Ram), Guruma (Radhaji), and their chelas. It was founded on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima in 2009 to promote the authentic teachings and values of Sanatan Dharma, our Culture, and to help foster the spiritual and academic growth and development of the Hindu youths in the community.
Initially the Gurukulam was funded solely by our Guruji from the Dakshinas and other monetary gifts that he receives by conducting poojas, yagnas, etc. Currently the Gurukulam raises funds through various activities such as shows, dinners, a yearly walk-a-thon, etc, and uses the proceeds to award scholarships to deserving youths. These scholarships are provided so they can pursue their studies in Sanatan Dharma, the various Classical Indian Arts such as Music & Harmonium, Tabla, Dance, and also Photography.
The Gurukulam would like to thank all members of the Mandir, our families and friends, as well as the general public who participated in our various fundraising activities. We look forward to your continued support during our upcoming events.
