Families from Shri Surya Narayan Mandir came together in Valley Stream State Park on Saturday, August 9th to relax and have fun together. Particularly memorable was the Lime & Spoon race, where the mothers showed their exceptional talents (and quite a bit of cheating went on). Adults and youths alike played many Guyanese traditional games such as, “burnhouse” , “ dog and bone”, made bracelets and jewelry, Apples to Apples and also were involved in a badminton tournament, where Left-handed wonders Khamini Harinarain, president of the Youth Organization, and Pt. Ram dominated. The day ended with a crush-ice “snow ball fight”, which surprisingly, was perpetuated by the mandir’s adults!
