A nine sessions Bhagwat Maha Puran Yajna was held on Sunday August 17th, thru Sunday August 24th, 2008 at Surya Narayan Mandir. The officiating Vyasa was the eloquent spiritual leader Pt. Ram Hardowar. The yajna was held in memory of the late Parmananda Tiwari Upadiya by his wife Shrimati Dropati Tiwari and their children Radha, Chandra, Bobby, Tara, Golin, Son and Sita. The yajna became extra special because Lord Shri Krishna Janamastami was also celebrated on Friday where devotees had the chance to offer their prayers and prasadam to the Lord. The altar was beautifully decorated with flowers and garlands welcoming the Lord. On Sunday August 24th, the last session of the yajna was followed by a special memorial service for the late Dharmacharya Pt. Hardowar Panday. A plaque located in front of the mandir was unveiled to dedicate the building to our Founder. The ceremony was attended by many Pandits in our community and hundreds of devotees.
