Shri Surya Narayan Mandir Devotees participated in 2012 Earth Day Celebration on Sunday April 22. Many members of our mandir join with others from Federation of Hindu Mandirs, Shri Trimurti Bhavan, and Bhavanee Maa Mandirs to perform annual cleaning of the CrossBay beach, gateway National recreation area. Hindus have always worshipped earth as a mother who provides nutrients for our daily existence. As such, it has become apparent that we continue to maintain a clean and safe environment for all. A special thank you came from the New York City Dept. of Park and Recreation, Ranger Colleen Sorbera. Surya Narayan wishes to thank all those devotees who brave the inclement weather to assist with the cleaning campaign.
