Phagwah Celebrations at Shri Surya Narayan Mandir (FL) began Saturday evening with Poornima services being conducted. We joined in the burning of Holika, that symbolic act that signifies the triumph of good over evil. The members of the Mandir then joined in Chowtal singing before the evening finished.
The next morning, as soon as Sunday service was completed, devotees headed outside to our beautiful yard to celebrate Phagwah in grand fashion. The weather on Sunday couldn’t have been better, Surya Bhagwan was shining brightly yet there was still a cool breeze. We had members from the Sanatan Mandir lead us in Chowtal singing; followed by classic Holi songs from members of Shree Jalaram Mandir. Youths from SSNM showcased their talent by dancing. Whilst these events were occurring, children were running around in the yard, spraying water and abheer on each other. Parents were also joining in on the fun as they enjoyed the performances. The Latchmi Sabha prepared a large amount of food and snacks for everyone to enjoy. We all look forward to celebrating Phagwah next year.
