Pandit Vishnu Hardowar is the second of four sons of the late Dharmacharya, Pt. Hardowar Panday, and his loving mother, Smt. Khausilla Hardowar. During his early years he attended primary school in Crabwood Creek as well as Rama Krishna Dharmic Sabha in Kitty. He completed his secondary education at Skeldon Lutheran High School.
After high school Panditji taught primary school at Rama Krishna Dharmic Sabha which was a great learning experience for him. In 1975, after one year of teaching twelve-year old children, he enrolled at the University of Guyana (UG). After attending UG for one year, he left Guyana to continue his studies in India. Pt. Vishnu first attended Punjab University and subsequently attended the School of Veterinary Medicine, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. In May 1983, after graduating from Veterinary College he worked briefly as a Veterinarian in Guyana before leaving for the US.
In September 1984, Pt. Vishnu got married to the love of his life, Kay Hardowar, a Registered Pharmacist. They were blessed with three wonderful children Varun, Vijay and Varsha.
During Panditji first few years in the US he attended Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1988 with a Masters (MS) in Veterinary Medicine. After finishing graduate school he accepted a job as a Public Health Veterinarian with the US government. Twenty-two years later, he is still employed by the US government and enjoying every minute of his work.
Pandit Vishnu is the resident Priest of Shri Surya Narayan Mandir, Florida. In addition to Sunday morning services there are several activities (religious, cultural and social) conducted at the Mandir under his leadership for the benefit of all Hindus.
