On August 18th, Shri Surya Narayan Mandir celebrated Founders Day, a significant event that brought together the community to honor the mandir’s roots and its enduring impact. This year, the mandir paid special tribute to Dr. Parmeshwar Mahabir, a distinguished physician not only known for his medical expertise, but also for his unwavering dedication to the community.
Dr. Mahabir has been a pillar of support for countless individuals, providing compassionate care and building meaningful relationships with the members of the mandir. Whether offering medical advice, participating in community initiatives, or simply lending a listening ear, Dr. Mahabir’s presence has been a source of comfort and inspiration for many.
Founder’s Day also paid tribute to the late Pandit Hardowar Pandey, the Founder of Shri Surya Narayan Mandir, and Co-Founder Dharmacharya Ram Hardowar Pandey. After constructing a Mandir in Crabwood Creek, Guyana, in 1988 Pt. Hardowar Pandey migrated to the United States where he continued to serve his community. Known for his boundless energy and devotion, Panditji was always looking to serve the Hindu people. His profound knowledge led him to write the comprehensive guide on Hindu rituals, Karma Kandha Padhati, along with several prayer and bhajan books, leaving a lasting impact on the Hindu community.
In 1993, Panditji touched the lives of countless devotees by founding Shri Surya Narayan Mandir. Although he passed away in 2006, Pandit Hardowar Pandey’s dream of establishing another Mandir in Florida came to life just a few months later, ensuring that his legacy will endure for generations to come.
