Bhagwat Gita Yajna 2014 – SSNM, Orlando

Memorable Bhagwat Gita Yajna in Florida written by Reta Singh

On December 5th, 2014, a pleasant, summery day, in the “Sunshine State”, devotees

from far and near gathered at the Shri Surya Narayan Mandir in Florida. These bhaktas,

led by Pandit Vishnu Hardowar followed by our Spiritual leader, Guruji Pandit Ram Hardowar,

were able to listen to the captivating knowledge of the Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta.

This Yagna gave many opportunities for devotees to come together to hear the glories

of our scriptures. Many Vedantic principles were introduced in a simple way so that everyone

could easily understand what he was saying. A devotee could be learning in- depth Vedanta and

not even realize because these ideas were expressed thoroughly with the use of comparison to our daily

lives.

Through the shlokas, both Pandit Jis spoke the sacred words of Lord Shri Krishna, and Guru Ji

implemented the theme of freedom from relationship. As a human living on Earth (jagat), you can

have nicest home, nicest car; but do not allow yourself to be attached to these materialistic items.

GuruJi furthered the theme of relationship by explaining, “a bangle is gold but gold is not a bangle”

which can be applied to “You are Bhagawan, but Bhagawan is not you”. Guruji continues to explain

relationship by describing the bond between parent and child. Explaining this relationship is not only

useful but is crucial to understand in this age of Kali Yuga.

This beautiful yagna lasted for one week and ended on December 7th. Yagyakartas were given

the blessed opportunity to listen to the amritam of the auspicious Bhagawat Geeta flowing from both

PanditJi Vishnu and GuruJi’s lips and then followed by Vyasa puja to GuruJi. To conclude this blessed

week beautiful aarti was performed by GuruMaa Radha Ji on the last day of the yagna.

All devotees in attendance enjoyed a blessed week at Shri Surya Narayan Mandir. Listening to

these words can teach us all a lesson which we can apply to our daily lives to make us closer to our

true identity and ultimately Brahman.
